In a continuing demonstration of its commitment to nation-building through education, the Department of Budget and Management Regional Office XIII (DBM RO XIII) actively participated in Brigada Eskwela 2026 on July 16, 2026, embracing this year's theme, "Bayanihan sa Paaralan, Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman."

With the spirit of volunteerism and shared responsibility at its core, the office mobilized its personnel into two groups to simultaneously conduct outreach activities at Riverside Integrated School (formerly Riverside Central Elementary School) and Danapa Elementary School. The initiative reflected DBM RO XIII's unwavering support for the Department of Education's annual campaign by helping prepare schools for the opening of classes while fostering strong partnerships between government agencies and local communities.

Beyond preparing school facilities, the activity became an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of learners and educators. DBM RO XIII distributed school and office supplies to help equip students and teachers with essential learning and administrative materials.

A feeding program was likewise conducted, bringing nourishment and joy to the pupils while underscoring the importance of promoting learners' health and well-being. Complementing these efforts was a tree-planting activity, symbolizing the office's commitment to environmental stewardship and to cultivating a greener, healthier learning environment for future generations.

At Danapa Elementary School, Regional Director Maria Fe D. Jagna, CESO III, delivered an inspiring message that resonated deeply with everyone present. She expressed the office's gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to schools like Danapa Elementary School, emphasizing that Brigada Eskwela goes beyond fulfilling a government responsibility—it is about connecting with the people whom public service ultimately seeks to uplift. Director Jagna shared that initiatives such as Brigada Eskwela allow the office to see the faces behind the numbers. While DBM is often associated with budgets, allocations, and financial management, the activity served as a powerful reminder that every peso allocated translates into real opportunities, real classrooms, and real lives.

Witnessing the smiles of the learners, the dedication of teachers, and the support of the community reaffirmed the importance of ensuring that public resources create meaningful and lasting impacts where they matter most. The simultaneous conduct of Brigada Eskwela activities in Riverside Integrated School and Danapa Elementary School showcased the collective commitment of DBM RO XIII employees to embody the true essence of bayanihan. Through teamwork, volunteerism, and compassion, the office demonstrated that building a conducive learning environment is a shared responsibility that extends beyond institutional mandates.

As another school year begins, DBM RO XIII remains steadfast in supporting initiatives that empower communities and strengthen the foundations of quality education. BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — In a proactive step toward building a more inclusive and barrier-free government, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Regional Office in Caraga welcomed a composite team last July 7, 2026, for a comprehensive Access Audit of its facilities.

The assessment was spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga—acting as Chair of the Regional Committee on Disability Affairs (RCDA) together with technical experts, architects, and engineers from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Butuan City and the Loving Presence Foundation, Inc.

This joint initiative is a core highlight of the region's preparations for the 48th National Disability Rights Week (NDRW), scheduled for July 17 to 23, 2026. Under this year's highly progressive theme, "Rights First, Legislation Forward – Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development," the audit aims to translate disability laws from paper into tangible physical access.

The evaluation team rigorously assessed DBM Caraga’s physical infrastructure against the strict standards of Batas Pambansa Blg. 344, commonly known as the Accessibility Law. The inspection focused on ensuring that architectural features—ranging from ramps and handrails to washrooms, signage, and tactile pathways—allow persons with disabilities (PWDs) to navigate the regional office independently, safely, and with dignity.

Rather than viewing the audit as a simple compliance check, DBM Caraga embraced the evaluation as an opportunity to reflect the agency’s core values of public service.

DBM Caraga joins a select roster of National Government Agencies (NGAs) in Butuan City that underwent the physical assessment between July 6 and July 9, 2026, including the Civil Service Commission (CSC), Department of Justice (DOJ), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), PhilHealth, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

As National Disability Rights Week approaches, DBM Caraga remains firmly committed to working hand-in-hand with the RCDA and its partner stakeholders. By integrating the audit’s recommendations into its institutional planning, DBM Caraga is taking concrete steps toward a future where "equal participation" is a physical reality for every client who walks through its doors.
