Beyond Numbers: DBM Trese Joins Brigada Eskwela 2025 to Uplift Learning Communities
True to its mission of public service and grassroots engagement, the Department of Budget and Management Regional Office XIII (DBM Caraga) once again stepped beyond its fiscal mandate to actively support the Brigada Eskwela 2025—the Department of Education’s nationwide initiative that mobilizes various sectors to prepare public schools for the opening of classes.
Guided by this year’s theme, “Sama-Sama para sa Bagong Bumabasa,” which champions collective action to support beginning readers, DBM Caraga adopted two public elementary schools—A.J. Meija Elementary School and Maug Elementary School—as its partner institutions for this year’s campaign.
The regional office was divided into two teams, each assigned to one of the beneficiary schools to conduct volunteer work and extend material assistance. Upon arrival, both teams were warmly welcomed with short but heartfelt programs. At A.J. Meija Elementary School, the program featured an uplifting message from the School Headand expressions of gratitude from the school community. Meanwhile, Maug Elementary School showcased a cultural performance by selected pupils and appreciation messages from teachers—underscoring the value of solidarity in fostering educational progress.
After the welcome activities, DBM Caraga employees engaged in hands-on tasks including classroom cleaning, furniture repairs, groundskeeping, and the organization of instructional materials. These efforts were complemented by the turnover of essential supplies such as alcohol, disinfectants, bond paper, and cleaning items. The donations were formally received by school officials and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) representatives in brief handover ceremonies at both sites.
Beyond the tangible contributions, the initiative embodied the spirit of bayanihan—bringing to life the idea that improving literacy and learning environments is a shared responsibility. DBM Caraga’s participation in Brigada Eskwela 2025 reflects its deep commitment to nurturing inclusive and resilient communities, where every child is empowered to become a reader and a learner.
More than an outreach activity, this endeavor stands as a testament to the agency’s evolving role: from managing public funds to championing foundational education. Through collective volunteerism and inter-agency cooperation, DBM Caraga proudly supports the goal of making every Filipino child a confident reader—sama-sama at sabay-sabay.
