The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released funds amounting to PhP 804.86 Million to the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) to cover the payment of pension arrears to World War II veterans for 2018.

Specifically, the said amount will pertain to the settlement of Total Administrative Disability (TAD) Pension Arrears to 6,046 surviving spouses of deceased World War II veterans.

The Total Administrative Disability (TAD) Pension is a monthly entitlement of PhP1,700 awarded to veterans upon reaching the age of 70. Living veterans receive their entitlement on a monthly basis, while arrears are awarded to surviving spouses of World War II Veterans and other eligible deceased veterans upon approval of requests made by PVAO.

Notably, a total of PhP 1.65 Billion has been allocated for the full payment of TAD arrears. As such, another PhP 841.87 Million is set to be released within the year for the same purpose, subject to submission of Special Budget Request to be supported by a list of pensioners/claimants.

The amount is charged against the Pension and Gratuity Fund of the 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
