Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman on Monday, 12 December 2022 urged cadets in the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) to go beyond the call of duty and be champions of good governance and public trust.

The Budget Secretary made the call in a speech delivered for the Distinguished Visitors Program of the PNPA at Camp General Mariano N. Castañeda, Silang, Cavite.

Describing the cadets as “the uniformed personnel who serve as the nation’s vanguards of peace and order, safety and security,” Pangandaman stressed that cadets, as future leaders of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), should “let the people know that the government is working for them and not against them.”

To make this happen, the Budget Secretary assured the police cadets that the DBM fully supports the PNPA’s vision to be a world-class center of excellence in public safety education.

“Our pursuit of reform-oriented service towards public trust is also evident in the 2023 Proposed National Budget which was crafted to ensure that no one will be left behind – from our public servants including our uniformed personnel to the public we are sworn to protect,” Pangandaman said.

The DBM Secretary further expressed her full support to the PNPA’s Cadetship Program to develop professional, morally upright, and dedicated public safety officers imbued with the values of justice, integrity, and service.

DBM has allocated P191.85-B to the PNP, P27.79-B for the BFP, and P22.34-B for the BJMP in the 2023 proposed National Budget.

PNPA Acting Director Police Brigadier General Eric E. Noble welcomed Secretary Pangandaman during the event, where she was accorded arrival honors composed of an all-female battalion sized contingent.

BGEN Noble expressed his gratitude to Secretary Pangandaman and presented the current status of the different infrastructural projects of the Academy as part of the PNPA Camp Master Development Plan.
