Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah "Mina" F. Pangandaman announced that in adherence to the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., poll workers, including teachers, will get a P1,000 across-the-board additional compensation for serving during the May 12, 2025 midterm elections.
The additional P1,000 election allowance is on top of the P2,000 across-the-board election allowance increase previously approved by the DBM, funded under the FY 2025 General Appropriations Act.
“The DBM has approved the release of P758.459 million to cover the budgetary requirement for the additional P1,000 election honoraria of our teachers and poll workers. Iba pa po ito sa P2,000 increase na inanunsyo natin noong nakaraang linggo, na nakapailalim mismo sa 2025 General Appropriations Act,” DBM Secretary Mina Pangandaman said.
The Budget Secretary said that the move is in compliance with the order of President Bongbong Marcos to recognize the indispensable role of poll workers and teachers as frontliners in safeguarding the Filipino people's right to vote.
"Muli po nating nakita ang dedikasyon ng ating mga guro at poll workers sa pagbabantay ng ating mga boto ngayong eleksyon. Kaya naman, sa utos po ng ating mahal na Pangulo, inaprubahan po natin ang additional na pondo para mabigyan sila ng karagdagang honoraria. That's the least we can do to honor their invaluable service. 'Yan po ay isang paraan ng ating pasasalamat sa kanila," Sec. Mina said.
"Nakikinig po tayo -- lalo na sa hinaing ng ating mga guro na karamihan po, inabot pa ng madaling araw o hindi na natulog para siguraduhing bawat boto natin ay mabibilang nang tama at mapoprotektahan," Sec Mina added.
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has estimated the total number of poll workers for the 2025 national and local elections at 758,549.
According to COMELEC, poll workers shall receive their election allowance, including the announced increases, within 10 days after the National and Local Elections.

Pasasalamat sa mga guro at poll workers

Inanunsyo ni Department of Budget and Management (DBM0 Secretary Amenah "Mina" F. Pangandaman na alinsunod sa direktiba ni President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr., makatatanggap ang mga poll watcher, kasama na ang mga teacher, ng dagdag P1,000 across-the-board election allowance bilang kabayaran sa kanilang serbisyo noong May 12, 2025 midterm elections.
Ang dagdag na P1,000 election allowance ay bukod pa sa P2,000 across-the-board election allowance increase na nauna nang inaprubahan ng DBM, na pinondohan sa ilalim ng FY 2025 General Appropriations Act.

Sinabi ng Budget Secretary na ang hakbang ay alinsunod sa utos ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na kilalanin ang mahalagang papel ng mga poll workers at guro bilang mga frontliners sa pagprotekta ng karapatan ng mga Pilipino na bumoto.

Tinataya ng Commission on Elections (COMELEC) na nasa 758,549 ang kabuuang bilang ng poll workers noong 2025 national and local elections.
Ayon pa sa COMELEC, matatanggap ng poll workers ang kanilang election allowance, kabilang na ang inanunsyong mga increase, sa loob ng 10 araw pagkatapos ng National at Local Elections.
