DBM PRESS RELEASE
Excitement is building as the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Fun Run 2025 prepares to kick off this Sunday, January 26, 2025, promising a day filled with community spirit, physical fitness, and civic engagement.
Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah “Mina” F. Pangandaman emphasized the importance of the values of OGP in achieving a Bagong Pilipinas. “These principles are foundational to the OGP and closely align with PBBM’s governance agenda. This is about stepping forward with conviction, advancing transparency, and participation in governance." Sec. Mina mentioned.
The OGP Fun Run aims not only to promote health and wellness but also to champion the values of open government. This is a prelude to the PH-OGP Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) that will be held in Manila on February 2025.
In keeping with the collaborative nature of OGP, the DBM has partnered with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to mount the event.
“The MMDA is one with the DBM in organizing the Open Government Fun Run on January 26, which serves as an avenue for the public to gather and show support to initiatives that enhance government accountability and transparency as well as participation and solidarity in pushing for social reforms —putting premium on our kababayan's welfare,” stated MMDA Atty. Romando Artes.
“We sincerely thank Secretary Amenah Pangandaman for spearheading this initiative, along with MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes for their constant support to the life-saving causes of the PRC,” said PRC Chairman Dick Gordon.
“Every step in this Fun Run is a contribution to our lifesaving programs which will allow us to serve more vulnerable communities all over the country,” added PRC Secretary-General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang.
Other partners include San Miguel Corporation, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, Systems Technology Institute, Philippine Airlines, Coca Cola, Bingo Plus, Pocari Sweat, Maynilad, and Pinoy Fitness.
The first-of-its-kind community running event offers three race distances from 3km, 5km, and 10 km around the Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park (Luneta).
The event begins at 4:00 AM with warm-up activities preceding the race start.
All proceeds will fund PRC’s humanitarian programs.
