DBM PRESS RELEASE
The Dugtong Buhay Movement, founded and headed by Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Mina Pangandaman, is set to hold its 5th activity installment on December 6, Friday, at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) in Ermita, Manila from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The Dugtong Buhay Movement is comprised of the DBM, Philippine Red Cross, Philippine Coast Guard, and the Philippine National Police.
With over 600 pledges received for the activity, the Dugtong Buhay Movement aims to promote public health by instilling the importance of voluntary blood donation to aid patients in need of medical attention.
This will be the first-time that the University of the Philippines Manila (UPM) will partner with the DBM for the blood drive, together with its affiliate organizations - the UP Pahinungod, Phi Kappa Mu and Mu Sigma Phi Fraternities, and Phi Lambda Delta and Mu Sigma Phi Sororities.
Meanwhile, volunteers from the personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology will also take part in the activity. Coca-Cola Philippines is a sponsor for this bloodletting activity.
Aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s Bagong Pilipinas agenda, the bloodletting drive emphasizes the importance of community support for those in need, especially during emergencies.
The activity also upholds Republic Act No. 7719, or the National Blood Services Act of 1994, which promotes voluntary blood donation to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply.
