Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah “Mina” F. Pangandaman was awarded the “People of the Year” 2024 accolade under the public service category by PeopleAsia Magazine on Tuesday, 19 March 2024.

The prestigious distinction is given to exceptional individuals whose contributions have made a mark on their respective fields and have profoundly affected the lives of others.

The Budget Secretary dedicated her achievement to the DBM family and all empowered women in public service, praising their dedication to nation-building.

In serving in the government for two decades, I have come to know faithful female public servants who have found their purpose in serving the Filipino people and have been working really hard to strengthen our communities and this nation as a whole. Many of them I've met at the DBM. And it’s my honor to lead them in the pursuit of our economic goals,” enthused Secretary Pangandaman.

The lone Muslim constituent of the Cabinet of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the only female member of the country’s economic team, Secretary Pangandaman was recognized by the bi-monthly magazine for her transformative impact on the economic landscape of the Philippines through her groundbreaking budgetary reforms and exceptional leadership at the DBM.

Under her guidance, the government agency has emerged as one of the most efficient within President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s administration. Notably, the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) was passed at record speed, signifying a milestone in Philippine governance.

More than half of the awardees for this year are women, namely, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rep. Camille Villar, Shell Pilipinas Corp. president and CEO Lorelie Osial, Grab Philippines country head Grace Vera Cruz, Consul General Fortune Ledesma, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, and Broadway and West End star Rachelle Ann Go.

Recipients include GT Capital Holdings vice chairman and Toyota Motors Philippines chairman Alfred Ty, Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. president and CEO Eugene S. Acevedo, Volvo Philippines president and CEO Atty. Albert Arcilla, Asian gold winner and Olympic pole vaulter EJ Obiena, Barangay Ginebra and Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone, and fashion designer Puey Quiñones.

Meanwhile, the president and CEO of Sta. Elena Construction Corp., Alice Eduardo was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest merit.

This award serves as a challenge to inspire and raise more exceptional women who will lead this country to its prosperous future… As I would always say, we rise by lifting others,” Secretary Pangandaman ended.

Ginawaran si Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah “Mina” F. Pangandaman ng parangal na “People of the Year” 2024 sa kategorya ng public service ng PeopleAsia Magazine sa Grand Ballroom, City of Dreams Manila noong Martes, ika-19 ng Marso 2024.

Ang prestihiyosong pagkilala ay ibinibigay sa mga natatanging mga indibidwal na nagbigay ng malaking kontribusyon sa kanilang mga larangan at malalim na naapektuhan ang buhay ng iba.

Inalay ng Budget Secretary ang kanyang tagumpay sa DBM family at sa lahat ng mga empowered na kababaihan sa serbisyo publiko, kasabay ng kanyang pagpuri sa kanilang dedikasyon sa nation-building.
