NEW YORK CITY, USA— Pangungunahan ni Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah "Mina" F. Pangandaman ang Philippine delegation na kakatawan sa bansa sa 68th annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) na gaganapin sa United Nations (UN) Headquarters sa New York City, USA.
Ang taunang CSW ay ang pinakamalaking pagtitipon ng United Nations na layong tumugon sa issue ng mga kababaihan at alalahanin, kasama na ang discriminasyon at karahasan laban sa kababaihan, at upang isulong ang gender equality, at women's empowerment.
Ngayong taon, ang CSW ay gaganapin sa ika-11 hanggang ika-22 ng Marso, na may priority theme, “Accelerating the Achievement of Gender Equality and the Empowerment of All Women and Girls by Addressing Poverty and Strengthening Institutions and Financing with a Gender Perspective”.
Magsisilbing chair ang Pilipinas, sa pamamagitan ni H.E. Antonio Lagdameo, ang Permanent Representative ng Republika ng Pilipinas sa United Nations. Ilan sa mga participants mula sa Pilipinas ay mga opisyal mula sa Philippine Commission on Women, Department of Foreign Affairs, Presidential Communications Office, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development, at Civil Society Organizations.
Bilang Head ng Philippine Delegation sa CSW68, pangungunahan ni Sec. Pangandaman ang engagement ng delegasyon sa activities ng session. Ang kanyang pamumuno ay mahalaga sa pagtataguyod para sa mga prayoridad ng bansa at pagbibigay-diin sa pangako ng natin sa pagkakapantay-pantay ng kasarian at pagpapalakas ng kababaihan sa international stage.
Nakatakdang ideliver ng DBM Secretary ang Statement ng Pilipinas sa General Discussion. Nakatakda din niyang ideliver ang Remarks sa Welcome Dinner para sa Heads of Delegations na dadalo sa UN-CSW68.
Dagdag pa, naka-schedule din si Sec Pangandaman na magsalita sa Ministerial Round Table sa priority theme upang pag-usapan ang mobilizing financing for gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls, specifically on policies and strategies to end poverty.
Magsisilbi ding chair si Secretary Pangandaman sa interactive dialogue sa review them, "Social Protection Systems, Access to Public Services, and Sustainable Infrastructure for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and Girls.”
Sa pagitan ng mga meetings, magsasagawa ang Budget Secretary ng bilateral meetings kasam ang iba't ibang states gaya ng Singapore, France, Czech Republic, Australia, among others.
Bilang unang Muslim Budget Secretary at kaisa-isang babaeng miyembro ng economic team ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos, patuloy na itinataguyod ni Kalihim Pangandaman ang gender equality at women's empowerment.
Sa kanyang message para sa paggunita ng Women's Month, hinikayat ng DBM Secretary ang mga kababaihan na, "to rise into leadership roles, participate in efforts toward societal development, and create a powerful ripple effect in their communities."
"On the government's part, we have been pursuing gender equality successfully. In fact, the 2023 Global Gender Gap Index (Global GGI) Report by the World Economic Forum shows the Philippines as the leading Asian country in narrowing the gender gap, with 79.1%, or 16th out of 146 countries, in gender parity,” ani Secretary Pangandaman.
“I encourage all women to be champions of gender equality and to keep shattering the glass ceiling until we break through. For, as we empower women, we also advance toward a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future,” dagdag pa niya.
