Amid rising fuel prices driven by ongoing tensions in the Middle East, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the immediate release of P21.47 billion to keep infrastructure projects running, protect jobs, and cushion Filipinos from the impact of global shocks.

 

Acting on the President’s directive, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) fast-tracked the release to ensure that critical services continue uninterrupted—especially as higher oil prices threaten transport costs and household budgets.

 

DBM Secretary Rolando “Rolly” U. Toledo emphasized that behind every release is the clear purpose of the administration of President Bongbong Marcos: to protect Filipinos and keep the economy moving despite global challenges.

 

“Every peso we release is meant to ease a burden, sustain a livelihood, or keep a service running for our people—especially at a time when global events beyond our control are affecting daily life here at home,” Secretary Toledo said.

 

“At a time when global headwinds are pushing fuel prices up, it is critical that we step in where it matters most—supporting our drivers, protecting commuters, and ensuring that no Filipino is left to carry these challenges alone,” he added.

 

Of the total, P2.49 billion was allocated to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for the Fuel Subsidy Program, providing direct relief to drivers and operators grappling with rising fuel costs.

 

As global oil prices climb, the subsidy helps drivers stay on the road without passing on the full burden to commuters—keeping fares stable and transport accessible for millions of Filipinos.

 

Meanwhile, P18.65 billion was released to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to sustain infrastructure projects nationwide, ensuring continued employment, safer roads, and unhampered economic activity.

 

Further, an additional P324.36 million was released to the DPWH to settle prior obligations for foreign-assisted infrastructure projects, ensuring their timely completion.

 

The DBM assures the public that all fund releases are subject to strict budgeting, accounting, and auditing safeguards—ensuring that assistance reaches the right beneficiaries while protecting every peso of public funds.

 

In line with the President’s directive, the DBM remains committed to acting swiftly, responsibly, and with compassion—so that even in times of global uncertainty, the needs of the Filipino people remain at the center of every decision.

Sa gitna ng patuloy na pagtaas ng fuel prices dahil sa tensyon sa Middle East, iniutos ni President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. ang agarang paglabas ng P21.47 billion para masigurong tuloy-tuloy ang pagsasagawa ng infrastructure projects, maprotektahan ang mga trabaho, at mabawasan ang epekto nito sa mga Pilipino.

 

Bilang tugon sa direktiba ng Pangulo, pinabilis ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ang paglalabas ng pondo para masigurong hindi mapuputol ang mga importanteng serbisyo—lalo na habang tumataas ang presyo ng langis na direktang nakakaapekto sa pamasahe at gastusin ng mga pamilyang Pilipino.

 

Ayon kay DBM Secretary Rolando “Rolly” U. Toledo, malinaw ang layunin ng bawat fund release ng administrasyon ni President Bongbong Marcos—ang protektahan ang mga Pilipino at panatilihing umaandar ang ekonomiya kahit may mga global na hamon.

 

“Bawat pisong inilalabas natin ay para magpagaan ng buhay, makatulong sa hanapbuhay, o masigurong tuloy ang serbisyo para sa ating mga kababayan—lalo na ngayon na may mga pangyayari sa ibang bansa na may epekto sa araw-araw na buhay dito sa atin,” ani Secretary Toledo.

 

“Sa panahon na tumataas ang fuel prices dahil sa krisis na nangyayari sa labas ng bansa, mahalagang kumilos ang gobyerno kung saan pinaka-kailangan—suportahan ang ating mga driver, protektahan ang mga commuter, at siguraduhing walang Pilipinong maiiwan sa bigat ng mga hamong ito,” dagdag niya.

 

Sa kabuuang halaga, P2.49 billion naman ang inilaan sa Department of Transportation (DOTr) para sa Fuel Subsidy Program, na direktang tulong sa mga driver at operator na apektado ng pagtaas ng presyo ng krudo.

 

Habang tumataas ang presyo ng langis sa buong mundo, malaking tulong ang subsidy na ito para makapagpatuloy ang mga driver sa kanilang biyahe nang hindi agad ipinapasa ang dagdag gastos sa mga pasahero. Sa ganitong paraan, napapanatiling abot-kaya ang pamasahe at tuloy ang biyahe ng milyon-milyong Pilipino araw-araw.

 

Samantala, P18.65 billion ang inilabas sa Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) para matiyak na tuloy-tuloy ang infrastructure projects sa buong bansa. Ibig sabihin nito ay patuloy na pagkakaroon ng trabaho ng mga manggagawa, mas maayos at ligtas na mga kalsada, at hindi pagkaantala sa galaw ng ekonomiya.

 

May karagdagan ding P324.36 million na inilabas sa DPWH para mabayaran ang mga nauna nilang obligasyon sa foreign-assisted infrastructure projects, para masigurong matatapos ang mga ito sa tamang oras.

 

Tinitiyak ng DBM sa publiko na ang bawat sentimong inilalabas ng ahensya ay dumadaan sa mahigpit na budgeting, accounting, at auditing rules para masigurong napupunta sa tama ang pondo at napoprotektahan ang pondo ng bayan at mamamayan.

 

Alinsunod sa direktiba ng Pangulo, sinisiguro ng DBM ang pagkilos nang mabilis, maayos, at may malasakit—para masigurong kapakanan ng bawat Pilipino ang laging nauuna sa gitna ng anumang hirap o hamon.
