DBM Press Release
To fulfill President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s aspirations to support and empower Filipino migrant workers, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) allocated a total of P10.2 billion to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) in 2026.
The amount is part of the Social Services sector fund, which gets the largest share in the proposed national budget for next year.
"We affirm our enduring commitment to protect the most vulnerable sectors of our society through the P227 billion budget for the Social Services sector in 2026. Of this amount, P223.4 billion will be allocated to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and P10.2 billion to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), among others," President Bongbong Marcos said in his Budget Message.
Included in the P10.2 billion proposed budget for DMW is the provision for the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) amounting to P3.5 billion.
“We will continue to support the important programs of the DMW to assist and protect the welfare of our kababayans. Kasama po dito ang pondo para tuluy-tuloy ang ahensya sa pagbibigay ng tulong, lalo na sa mga distressed OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) at kanilang pamilya,” DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman meanwhile said.
Under the FY 2026 National Expenditure Program, the Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFW na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Fund will receive P1.2 billion to provide comprehensive assistance to OFWs. This program covers the legal, medical, financial, and other essential support services, such as repatriation, shipment of remains, evacuation, rescue operations, and other similar interventions aimed at safeguarding the rights and welfare of Filipino nationals abroad.
The Support for the Emergency Repatriation Program will also receive P1.3 billion for next year.
“Importante po para sa ating mahal na Pangulo ang bawat buhay ng ating mga kababayang OFW. Kaya sisiguruhin natin na may sapat na pondo ang mga programang ito para laging handang umagapay at sumaklolo ang gobyerno sa oras ng pangangailangan,” Sec. Amenah said.
Other notable projects of the DMW that were given allocations in the NEP are the Workers Auxiliary Support Program, which will get P109 million, while the provision for Alagang OWWA will receive P142 million. Meanwhile, P497 million has been allotted to the OFW Hospital to sustain care and support services for OFWs and their families.
