The Open Government Partnership (OGP) is a global effort that seeks to create commitments from government and non-government stakeholders that promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption and harness new technologies to strengthen governance. The Philippines is one of the eight founding countries of the OGP in 2011. At the local level, the OGP is chaired by Secretary Benjamin Diokno of the Department of Budget and Management. DBM also serves as the lead Secretariat of the initiative.
In October 2016, the Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP) Steering Committee held its first assembly under the administration of President Duterte. From this meeting, the Steering Committee has set the direction of the Philippine OGP in the next few years. As significant reforms in the past years have gained ground in changing the culture of governance in the Philippine bureaucracy, the aim now of the PH-OGP is to expand its reach and impact by co-creating and implementing new action plans and open government programs that have concrete and direct benefits to the Filipino people.
The draft PH-OGP National Action Plan 2017-2019, the result of various stakeholder consultations in the past two quarters, is now posted online for the last round of public consultation before its submission to the international OGP Secretariat. The said draft Plan can be accessed through the following link: https://tinyurl.com/PHOGP-17-19 .
Citizens are encouraged to review the document and provide their inputs on or before June 29, 2017. Please note that comments can be placed directly in the PH-OGP Plan Google Document or be sent through email via email@example.com. For any questions or concerns, you may reach the PH-OGP secretariat through the same email or via phone at 791-2000 loc 1209.
